9th and 10th Grade PARENT NIGHT:

The Guidance Department is hosting an informational evening of workshops for 9th and 10th grade students and their families. It will take place Thursday November 29, 2012, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. We will be presenting a variety of topics such as:

  • Introduction to:
    • College
    • Naviance
    • Testing for College Admission
  • Standing Out in the College Admissions Process
  • Parenting Your High School Student For Success
  • Mini Community and Community College Resource Fair

Deadlines for Adding/Dropping Classes:

FIRST SEMESTER:

Last Day to add a class 09/21/12 - Only a missing graduation/A-G requirement may be added.

Last Day to drop a class w/out penalty 10/03/12 - parental permission will be requested.

Students Can not drop a class after 12/05/12

SECOND SEMESTER:

Last Day to add a class 02/08/13 -Only a missing graduation/A-G requirement may be added.

Last Day to drop a class w/out penalty 02/21/13- parental permission will be requested.

Students Can not drop a class after 04/26/13

NOTE: If your student is a senior and needs to make up courses to graduate or to meet the A-G, he/she should have already started making up the work through Nova Net, Cyber High or the community college system. If they have not signed up yet, please have them go see their counselor immediately. If they are signed up but have not started attending, please have them start immediately. Your student must be done making up course work in these programs by May 30th, 2013 if they want to participate in the graduation. Please contact your student's counselor if you have any questions.

Power Point Presentations

The following Power Points were presented in the academic year 2012-2013


  • Private Colleges Presentation
    Terri Ignaitis, our College Counselor, along with the Guidance Department, presented this power point to junior students and their parents so that they learn and understand the process for applying to private colleges.
  • PSAT Collegeboard Power Point
    Mrs. Ignaitis distributed the PSAT results and explained the meaning of the scores. This information is valuable in preparation of taking the SATs this Spring and in the selection of colleges or universities.
  • 10th Grade Power Point
    The counselors presented this power point to 10th graders for the purpose of helping them think about and prepare for post secondary plans and their selection of classes for the next two years.
  • Senior Parent IB/College Information Night
    On September 11, 2012 The Guidance Department held a Senior IB/Private College Information Night to share with students and parents the requirements for the IB Diploma/certificates and important information and deadlines for college admission.
  • Introducción a las Universidades
    La siguiente información describe los diferentes sistemas de colegios y universidades y los requisitos para admisión. Si tienen preguntas sobre la información dada, favor de comunicarse con la consejera de su hijo/a.
  • Junior IB/College Information Meeting
    This power point focuses on what juniors need to do and courses they need to take if they want to earn the IB Diploma/certificates or prepare for college admission. This Power Point was presented the evening of September 18, 2012 at Carrington Hall.
  • GUIDANCE COUNSELORS' PRESENTATION TO SENIORS
    On September 17, 2012 the counselors presented this power point to seniors for the purpose helping them plan for post secondary plans. A hand out was also given. Please see the section below for a copy of it.
  • Freshmen College Meeting
    On October 2, 2012 The Guidance Department shared with parents how their students can prepare for college admission. Some of the topics discussed were:ICAP/IB,Grades and Rigor, Extra-Curricular Activities and Naviance.
