About the Foundation

The Sequoia High School Education Foundation was created in 1993 as part of the Sequoia Union High School District's Foundation for the Future.

SHSEF is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) whose mission is to support student success at Sequoia High School by investing in projects and programs that will have a substantial impact on the school community.

Board of Directors

The Sequoia High School Education Foundation is governed by a Board of Directors including volunteer community leaders, business owners, current and former teachers, parents, administrators, and alumni. During the school year the Foundation members meet once a month. Current SHSEF Board members are:

Fundraising Goals 2009-10

Fund Raising Goals

In 2009 - 2010, the SHSEF fund raising goal is $100,000 to support the following programs:

  • Performing Arts
  • Principal's Discretionary Fund to meet the hardship needs of individual students
  • Accelerated math class
  • SAT Prep classes
  • AVID Program
  • Expanded foreign language offering


Past Projects Funded by the Foundation

Last year the Sequoia High School Educational Foundation supported:

  • Community Hall of Fame
  • Tarshes Learning Center
  • Pajama Game
  • Once Upon a Mattress
  • Grease
  • The Laramie Project
  • The Little Shop of Horror
  • The SAT prep class (keeping the cost to students at just $100)
  • Dream Club student scholarships
  • California Science Teachers Association conference attendance

In past years, the Foundation has provided funding for the following:

  • Library equipment, books, and computer disks
  • Calculators for calculus and AP math classes
  • Printing of student art and literary works
  • Three electronic scoreboards for basketball, football, and baseball
  • Portable floor mats for dance classes
  • Teacher mini-grants
  • Application fees for National Board Certification

  • Leadership Campaign
  • Grant Writing
