Summer School Enrollment Process 2010

This information has been given to the school sites by the district. The economic downturn has impacted the number of students who will be able to attend summer school. The process is currently being discussed further and this may change as summer school draws closer.

Procedures for summer school enrollment will change this year given that spaces will only be allocated to those students meeting priorities 1 - 6. Furthermore, students falling in categories 5 & 6, for example, may not get spaces if enrollment rises far above the maximum cap of 1,600 students.

Priority categories: (unit criteria pertain to end of first semester of this academic year):

  • 1) Seniors (class of 2010) deficient 5-20 credits for June 2010 graduation

(Students can graduate in August 2010, but they MUST complete a Summer Graduation Contract to be on file with the Summer Programs Office for effective August 2010 graduation tracking and to refer those who fail to meet their contracts to high schools for 5th-year senior enrollment).

  • 2) Freshmen (class of 2013) with 1 - 20 units at the end of first semester (12/09).
  • 3) Juniors with 90-115 units at end of first semester (12/09).
  • 4) ELA students and students in two or more support classes.
  • 5) Sophomores (class of 2012) with 40-60 units at end of first semester (12/09).
  • 6) Students who have D's in UC a-g requirements and who have good attendance.

(This priority category will be processed later in the semester depending on space available.)
