Shadowing for 2017-2018 has Filled

Please email Corey Uhalde (cuhalde@seq.org) to be added to the waitlist. Please include your name, your child's name and any interests (academic or otherwise) that might assist in a potential pairing.
 
Also, consider attending our guided campus tours. Tours will be conducted Saturday, November 4 and Saturday, January 27th. Tours will run between 10:00-11:00 AM and will depart from the front entrance of the school

Overview

  • A shadow day is an opportunity for eighth grade students to spend the day at Sequoia and experience firsthand what it’s like to be a member of the Sequoia family. 

  • Students have an opportunity to observe Sequoia High School for the day and we offer a Parent Information Session.

  • Our Hosts are trained to help you get the most of your shadow experience and can't wait to meet you! Each host will be paired with two shadows.

  • You may request your host and you may request to be with another shadow.

  • We make every effort to match eighth grade students with one of our hosts based on their interests (class schedule, extra-curricular activities, etc.)

  • Bring a book/homework to work with in the event that there is a test scheduled in one of the classes that you attend.

  • Please bring a snack.  Lunch will be provided for you

  • You will not need to dress for PE

  • Parents may park in the Ellwood Street Parking Lot near the baseball field at the back of campus (see map)

 

 

Schedule for Students

  • 8:00 AM - Parents and students arrive to the Multi-Purpose Room for the Welcome Session (see map link)

  • 8:25 AM – Students meet their hosts and depart for 1st period

  • 8:30 AM - 9:10 AM - First Period

  • 9:15 AM - 9:55 AM - Second Period

  • 9:55 AM - 10:10 AM - Brunch/Break: Students should bring a snack and will remain with their host

  • 10:10 AM - 10:50 AM - Third Period

  • 10:55 AM - 11:40 AM - Fourth Period

  • 11:40 AM - 12:10 PM - We will provide shadow students with a free pizza lunch in the Student Activities Center. Students will have an opportunity to meet other shadows and we will have a Q & A session with our student leadership hosts. If your student has dietary restrictions feel free to bring a bag lunch.

  • 12:15 PM - The Shadow Program concludes and parents pick up their students.  We hope the shadow students have a wonderful day seeing what it is like to be a student at Sequoia!  If you have any questions, check out our website or email Corey Uhalde at cuhalde@seq.org.

Esperamos dar la bienvenida a su hijo/a del octavo grado, y pasar un día con nosotros!

Su hijo debe llegar a Sequoia antes de las 8:15 de la mañana e informar al mural jus de entrada principal (debajo de la torre) de la escuela para juntarse con su estudiante Shadow Host. Día escolar de Sequoia comienza a las 8:30 am.

Acompañandose a su estudiante del octavo grado en la escuela es possibll pero difícil por el intenso tráfico en este momento . Si quieres venir con su hijo , el aparcamiento en Brewster o avenidas Broadway es su mejor opción.

Su octavo grado recibirán un pase SHADOW cuando conozca a su shadow host. Debe presentar el pase a personal Sequoia bajo petición. Él / ella también puede utilizar este paso como la verificación de la fecha de Sombra al volver a la escuela intermedia .

Su estudiante debe traer un libro para leer y / o tareas para hacer en el caso de que haya una prueba programada en una de las clases que él / ella asiste. Estudiantes de Sequoia vestirse para educación física Su estudiante del 8vo grado no tendrá que vestirse y será instruido por el PE maestro en cuanto a dónde ir.

Hay un brunch de 15 minutos todas las mañanas. Almuerzo tiene lugar es 12:10-13:00. Su estudiante debe traer una merienda y un almuerzo . La comida también se puede comprar en varios lugares del campus. $5-7 debe ser suficiente para pagar por brunch y almuerzo. 9th GRADE OPEN ENROLLMENT FOR THE 2018-19 SCHOOL YEAR

The Board of Trustees desires to provide enrollment options that meet the diverse needs and interests of the district's students. Ninth Grade Open Enrollment is a period of time when an incoming 9th grade student may request a high school other than their assigned home school to attend. You must complete an online Open Enrollment Application to be eligible.

February 2, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. - Open Enrollment closes (There are no late exceptions)

You do not need to complete an Open Enrollment Transfer Application if you want your child to attend their assigned home school.

Campus ToursTop of Page

In addition to our regular shadowing program, Sequoia will now be offering parent tours on two Saturdays during the 2017-2018 school year (Nov 4 and Jan 20). These tours are open to both parents and potential future students who are interested in seeing the campus in person. Tours will be led by members of Sequoia's ASB Student Leadership class and will be approximately 30 minutes in length. Tour guides will introduce some of the essential points of interest on the Sequoia campus and strive to answer any and all questions during the tour window. Tours will run between 10:00 AM and 11:30 AM on each of the above dates. Interested parties should meet at the front of the school (near the main office). There is no need to sign up beforehand
